__ What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a hands on complementary therapy where the therapist works on the feet or hands.
There are reflex points on the feet and hands which correspond to the organs, structures and systems of the body. In a reflexology treatment, pressure is applied to these points, using thumb, finger and hand techniques, to help bring the body into balance. Reflexology helps the body to relax this, in turn, allows the body’s natural healing to take place.
The body is always seeking to be in a state of balance, this is known as homeostasis. It is a miracle of nature that the body can heal itself when the right conditions are provided. Unfortunately, due to the stresses of a modern life-style, our physical, mental, and emotional well-being is often compromised and the body is unable to heal itself naturally. Reflexology is a holistic therapy, treating the person as a whole, rather than a collection of symptoms. The therapist can detect tension in the body and help to bring relaxation and healing to the relevant parts.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy and does not replace medical care. The therapist does not claim to diagnose, prescribe or cure.
How can reflexology help you? Reflexology is suitable for all, including children, the elderly and infirm.
Reflexology may be helpful in:-
On your first appointment I will ask you about your general health, past problems and current health concerns in order to tailor the treatment to your needs. The treatment will last approximately one hour and I will work on your feet, applying pressure with my thumbs, fingers and hands, as appropriate. You should feel relaxed and comfortable, you will be lying down unless you find that uncomfortable, and you can be seated with you legs upon a stool. There may be some areas of sensitivity on your feet, but this should you not course you pain during the treatment. A course of several treatments may be recommended, depending on your individual needs.
